Sri Lanka opposition leader to attend UK Conservative Party Conference

Sri Lanka Opposition leader Ranil Wickremasinghe has left for England today to participate in the 2014 Conference of the Conservative Party.

During the visit Wickremasinghe, who is the leader of the United National Party (UNP), will hold talks with Conservative Party leaders, a UNP statement said.

He is expected to return home on October 5, the Lanka Page reports.

The Conservative conference 2014 started in Birmingham on Sunday and will continue till October 1.

British Prime Minister David Cameron is the incumbent leader of the Conservative Party, the largest single party in the House of Commons with 305 MPs, governing in coalition with the Liberal Democrats.

This is Prime Minister Cameron's last major party conference before the 2015 election in the UK.
