Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on Tuesday visited Bodh Gaya on Tuesday to offer his prayers.
On Monday, President Sirisena visited Rajghat to offer his homage to Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation. He also received a red carpet welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan following which he held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and invited him to visit his country.
Both leaders decided to expand bilateral co-operation on defence and security co-operation.
India and Sri Lanka also inked three other pacts, including cooperation in the field of agriculture. Another MoU was signed to enable Sri Lanka to participate in the Nalanda University Project.
This is President Sirisena 's first overseas visit after assuming office in January this year.
