SSB joins Skill India and Digital India initiatives

As a welfare measure for its serving/retired personnel and their family members, fulfilling its social responsibility towards border population, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on Friday entered into a MoU with National Skill Development Corporation and National Skill Development Fund.

The event took place in the presence of Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju SSB Force Headquarters here.

Chief guest Rajiv Pratap Rudy praised the initiative of the SSB and expressed his confidence that while working on various provisions of MoU in letter and spirit SSB will not only be able to provide post retirement employment opportunities to its retiring personnel, but, also be able to skill family members of serving personnel and various sections of border population.

IPS officer Archana Ramasundaram, Director General of SSB signed the memorandum on behalf of the SSB.

During the event, an android based and in house developed mobile application "MySSB" was also launched by Kiren Rijiju, who lauded the efforts of Inspector (Ministerial) Gautam Basak in developing the application.

He expressed the hope that the SSB will continue keeping the welfare of its personnel on priority basis.

Ramasundaram appraised that after signing the MoU, the SSB will be able to provide gainful employment to the retiring/retired personnel of SSB in-order to facilitate resettlement through generation of second career option.

The signing of MoU will establish a framework under which dependants of the SSB personnel as well as locals, school dropouts, victims and potential victims of human trafficking will also be benefited directly in the area where the SSB is deployed.

Presently, the SSB has been deployed with its mandate to guard 1751 km of Indo-Nepal and 699 km of Indo-Bhutan borders as well as deployed in the state of Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh for ANO duties and in the state of Jammu and Kashmir for CI operations.

Through this MoU, the unemployed educated/uneducated youths will get an opportunity to adopt a course of their choice and plan their future.

Skill development training programme will be organised in collaboration with Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India Campaign, it will provide digital solution in day to day functioning and bring about transparency in decision making.

It will also provide two way communications between force personnel (both serving and retired) and senior functionaries and will act as a one stop solution for disseminating welfare measurers as well as receiving and redressing grievances for force personnel.
