Adelaide Oval's Stadium Management Authority chief executive Andrew Daniels has assured that the stadium will not endure the dodgy surface issues that dogged it last AFL season and will be safe for both the Ashes and the AFL.

According to News.com.au, contractor StrathAyr has come under fire from the state government and SMA for delivering turf of uneven thickness, making for a bumpy rather than billiard table surface in the second Ashes at the upgraded, 535 million-dollar venue from December 5.

Daniels insisted that Adelaide's turf will mesh and there won't be player safety issues in next week's Sheffield Shield clash between South Australia and Western Australia or during the AFL season, the report said.

Adelaide Oval curator Damian Hough is working around the clock to ensure an adequate surface is provided for SA's Shield clash against Justin Langer's Warriors from next Wednesday, the report added.

However there will be undulations not associated with the old, pristine Oval surface in the SA's next two Shield games against WA, Tasmania and second Ashes Test between Australia and England, according to the report.
