George Takei, who played Mr. Sulu in the 'Star Trek' series, would be making his Broadway-musical debut in the fall with 'Allegiance.'
The 13 million dollar show is drawn from his family's experience as Japanese-Americans sent to an internment camp during World War II, and had made its world premiere in 2012 with a book by Marc Acito and music and lyrics by Jay Kuo, at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre, with Takei and Telly Leung (Glee) and Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon), Deadline.com reported.
The musical will be helmed by Olivier Award nominee Stafford Arima, and is being Lorenzo Thione and Andrew Treagus.
It is anticipated to begin performances October 6 at an as-yet undesignated Shubert theater, and has been set for an opening night on November 8.
