Cricketing fever has the nation in its throes at present and to complement this spirit, Crownit, a leading merchant discovery and privileges platform, recently held the Startup Premier League. The tournament pitched several start-ups together to lock horns in a different kind of competitive environment, batting gear in tow! The startup which emerged as the top finalist was OYO Rooms.

The three-day sporting event organized by Crownit saw several leading start-ups such OYO Rooms, MobiKwik, ShopClues, Urbanclap, Fastfox, Little and Nearbuy (formerly Groupon) take to the cricketing field to contest each other for top honors.

Commenting on the success of the event, Founder Crownit, Sameer Grover said, "Cricket is a passion that connects all Indians across geographies and cultures. This is why we chose the sport as a medium to bring together some of the country's most promising ventures and acknowledge the tremendous growth of the young and vibrant Indian start-up industry."

"We saw some incredible camaraderie and sportsmanship throughout the event, which underlined the current strength and future scope for entrepreneurship in India. Judging by the fervor that those participating in the tournament carried on to the pitch, Indian start-ups are definitely here to stay. We would also like to congratulate and thank each one of the participants for making SPL a huge hit," added Sameer.

With many business leaders from some of the most renowned start-ups in the country lending their presence to this unique sporting endeavor, Crownit's SPL highlighted how start-ups integrate professionalism with fun. The initiative was appreciated by the participating entrepreneurs by allowing them to bond and connect in a playful and leisurely arena outside their boardrooms for a change.
