In a bid to beef up cyber security in the wake of a spate of high-profile breaches including, Sony Pictures hack attack that took place last year, United States President Barack Obama has urged the Congress to pass the legislation that would "better meet" the evolving threat posed by cyber warfare during his sixth State of the Union address.

While addressing a Congress in which both chambers are controlled by Republicans for the first time, Obama asked the lawmakers to make sure that no foreign nation, hackers should be able to infiltrate their systems, shut down their networks, steal trade secrets, or invade the privacy of American families, especially kids, reported ABC News.

Obama warned that the U.S. economy and the state will be left "vulnerable" if they fail to tackle the cyber security threat.
