New Zealand prolific batsman Kane Williamson has bagged the supreme Sir Richard Hadlee medal for cricketer of the year at the NZC awards night on Thursday.
The 25-year-old, who will succeed retired Brendon McCullum as team's captain for next month's World T20 in India, also collected Test player of the year and the Redpath Cup for first-class batting for the second year running, Stuff.co.nz reported.
Williamson enjoyed a superb 2015 season which saw him rise to be ranked the world's No 1 test batsman in December. He amassed a staggering 1172 runs in the calendar year to surpass McCullum's New Zealand record of 1164 set in 2014.
Meanwhile, opening batsman Martin Guptill claimed both the one-day international and Twenty20 international player awards, while left-arm swing bowler Trent Boult went back-to-back with the Winsor Cup for first-class bowling.
McCullum, who led New Zealand to their first-ever World Cup final in 2015, was given a prolonged standing ovation at the starry event.
