Steve McClaren has been sacked as Newcastle United manager with the club reeling at second bottom of the Premier League table.
Confirming the news, Newcastle said in a statement that the club had decided to end McClaren's employment with immediate effect after the defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday, Sport24 reported.
The 54-year-old was appointed as Newcastle boss in a three-year deal last June.
Newcastle have been struggling to recover from a poor start to the season, with the club facing relegation for the first time since 2010.
