Former Australian captain Steve Waugh is of the opinion that the tiff between spin legend Shane Warne and current national team head coach Darren Lehmann has gone beyond the chuckle point and insisted that its something the team doesn't need.
Several former teammates, including Mark Waugh and Matthew Hayden, have questioned Warne after the Australian spin great said that Lehmann needed to be careful not to overstep his position as coach and leave decisions, like when to declare, to his captain.
Warne later attempted to clarify his statements on social media, insisting that he and Lehmann were mates and that the coach would agree that the captain should run the team, News.com.au reported.
However, speaking ahead of Australia's important group game against New Zealand on Saturday, Waugh said that the public discourse was unnecessary. He said that it's definitely unsettling for the team.
Waugh claimed that he believes Lehmann and Warne have gone beyond the chuckle point for this situation, adding that there's a lot of comments and then retraction of comments, insisting that at the end of the day it's something the team doesn't need.
