Director Steven Spielberg has turned down the offer to direct 'Star Wars' prequels.
In a recent interview, filmmaker George Lucas said he was looking for some big directors, including Ron Howard, Robert Zemeckis and Spielberg to direct 'The Phantom Menace', however, all of them refused to helm it, The Telegraph reports.
The 71-year-old filmmaker said that along with others, even the 'Jurassic Park' helmer was worried about imparting justice to the franchise.
It is being said that prior to the prequels, Lucas had not helmed a film since 1977.
