South Africa's pace spearhead Dale Steyn has claimed that his form has 'gradually gotten better' in the ongoing Cricket World Cup.
South Africa are facing Pakistan in their Pool B at the Eden Park in Auckland on Saturday, with Misbah-ul Haq's men having posted a target of 223 runs for AB de Villiers' side to win.
The number three ranked ODI bowler feels that he is due to have a good game ahead of the knock-out matches, and is comfortable in taking a back seat while the team continues its winning ways, Sport24 reported.
Steyn has had a slow start from a wicket-taking point of view, but says that he still enjoys leading from the front by running in with intensity and aggression. He said that he doesn't believe that he has bowled too badly.
Steyn said that he is going through the World Cup game-by-game and he thought that against Zimbabwe he wanted to bowl quite quick and ran in to bowl them over, adding that he doesn't believe that it was quite the right strategy on that wicket. He insisted that it was a bit slow and their bowlers proved to be quite a handful by getting the ball in the right areas with the good use of the slower ball.
Steyn said that after Zimbabwe he believes he got better and better against India and Ireland, adding that it has gradually gotten better. He admitted that he hasn't taken the wickets that he wants to take, adding that in a World Cup one doesn't have anywhere to hide, insisting that one is criticised in every game that one plays and claimed that if he was playing a series back home he would have been quite happy with the way things are going.
Steyn said that there are only 10 wickets to take and if Imran Tahir takes five and Kyle Abbott takes four there are not many left for the other bowlers to take, adding that one has to do what one has to do in order for ones team to win and insisted that he is happy with that.
