Five-time champion Tiger Woods scrambled to make a cut after Sweden's David Lingmerth fired seven birdies in a seven-under 65 to grab the halfway stage lead at the Memorial Tournament in Ohio.

Woods bogeyed the 16th and 17th and needed to par the last for a 70 to make the cut at one under, the BBC has reported.

Lingmerth's 12-under total of 132 gave him a one-shot lead over former US PGA Championship winner Jason Dufner, who carded a 67 for 133.

World number 58 from Nuneaton, Andy Sullivan had eight birdies in a 64 and reached 10 under.

Woods began his round with three birdies in the opening four holes, but some wayward tee shots into thick rough led to a number of dropped shots.
