The Student Manifesto released here on Wednesday by SIO lays special emphasis on education, employment, environment, social justice, and human rights.
"The Students Islamic Organisation of India's (SIO) 'Student Manifesto' for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls focusses on education, employment, environment, social justice, and human rights," said SIO general secretary Syed Azharuddin, state unit president Suheb Naik, and state secretary Yunus Mulla.
"Proper implementation of the Right to Education Act (REA), increase in expenditure on education, free transportation facility to students, subsidised medical facility at all institutes, education loan waiver, regularisation of result declaration, implementation of time-bound and transparent selection processes are some other key demands of the manifesto," they said.
The manifesto also cited the disturbing trend of continuous jobless growth and made recommendations for inclusive entrepreneurship schemes and skill development programmes.
Flagging the issue of corruptions in the recruitment process of government jobs, the SIO has demanded the implementation of time-bound and transparent selection processes.
It highlighted the findings of Economic Survey 2017-18, in which the GDP spending on education is just 2.7 per cent, which was 3.1 per cent in during 2012-13.
