Madhya Pradesh Education Minister Vijay Shah on Monday said that students in government schools would now have to respond with 'Jai Hind' during attendance call.
"From now, in government schools during attendance call, students will reply with 'Jai Hind' instead of 'Yes sir' or 'Yes Madam'. This will instill a sense of patriotism among the youth," Shah told reporters here.
"I don't think anyone will have an objection to it," Shah added.
In September, the Education Minister had passed a similar order for all schools in the state's Satana district, with effect from October 1.
At the time, he had also stated that that if this mission is successful, he would take approval from Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and request to implement this rule all over Madhya Pradesh, whether it's a public school or a private school.
