Students in Vadodara on Gujarat celebrated Friendship Day by tying bands to a tree in the premises of the school under 'Save Trees' programme.
The 'Save Trees' programme was specially organised by school authorities on Saturday, August 2 in order to create an awareness about the importance of the conservation of trees and to make students environment conscious.
The enthusiastic children brought out their creativity by making a number of beautiful and colourful friendship bands which they tied to a tree in school premises later.
A student, Daksha Gyanchand Shukla, spoke gushingly of the importance of trees in human life.
"We have organised a programme on the occasion of Friendship Day in our school. We think tree is a better friend than a human being. It is a living thing and we should make trees our best friends. Trees are beautiful and we must stop cutting of trees and protect them. Trees provide us oxygen and consume carbon dioxide. That is why trees are our best friends," Shukla said
The extraordinary programme not only enlightened children about conservation of environment but also uplifted their morale as they enthusiastically participated throughout the event.
