Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Wednesday urged President Pranab Mukherjee to issue an ultimatum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to solve the problems related to demonetisation.

Mayawati told the media, "My party is not the supporter of black money and we are not against the decisions of the Centre for eradication of black money. But a decision should be of a kind in which the common man are not suffering and ruckus and emergency is not created."

"Through the medium of media, today I urge the honourable President to summon the Prime Minister and tell him about the difficulties that people are facing after the decision of demonetisation and should give him an ultimatum to solve the problems that the people are facing post demonetisation," she added.

She further said, "This hasty decision of demonetisation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is entirely wrong. After demonetisation, almost 75 people have died. Both houses the Lok Sabha and The Rajya Sabha want Prime Minister Narendra Modi to come TO house and listen to the demands of the opposition."

Reiterating that something is fishy in the entire matter of demonetisation, Mayawati said, "I want to ask THE Prime Minister that why is he scared? And, if he has done everything good and in favour of weeding out back money, then why is he scared?"

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had carried out the world's biggest impromptu financial experiment without consulting with economic minds of his own government.

Speaking to the media here, Rahul alleged that even Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and the Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian were unaware of this decision, adding that the move had resulted in nothing but chaos and suffering for people across the nation.
