Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers said that the pain and torture of coming so close to lifting last season's Premier League title, must remain with his squad in order to be used as the ultimate inspiration to go and win the trophy this season.

Rodgers is reportedly convinced that the experience, and in particular the desolate feeling after losing at home to Chelsea just a fortnight before the end of the season, can turn his men into Champions.

Rodgers said that remembering that pain is absolutely what drives you; remembering the Chelsea game, the Palace game was not even the one. He added that the Chelsea game was the one, The Mirror reported.

The Liverpool boss said that he feels the pain is a part of the process of winning, to be able to lose in the manner that his squad did. He said that what the pain has done with his team and group is that it has made them even more unified and stronger to be more successful in the future.

Rodgers said that if one looks at the history of the winning teams they have always come close, and added that look at the Manchester United team that won it in 1993, they came close in 1992 when they lost it to Leeds.

He said that United came back the following year and it set up an era of winning for them. Rodgers said that one looks at all the teams and there is always a record of coming close as one gains the experience of winning.

Rodgers said that they went so close but it is only the beginning for them. He added that he is 'super hungry' to be a champion and succeed and in the short period of time Liverpool has shown that they have the credentials to do that.
