Supporters of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa lined the streets of Chennai, dancing and shouting in joy, as their beloved 'Amma' returned home. Some, like AIADMK MLA VP Kalairajan said Diwali had come early for them.
"As far as we are concerned this is our Diwali," said V P Kalairajan.
"We are very happy for AIADMK and for the people. Today will be the Deepawali in Tamil Nadu," said another supporter, Shri Vidya.
Others went a step further. Some shaved their heads while others wore lockets with Jayalalithaa's photos, proudly proclaiming their allegiance to the AIADMK supremo.
Scores were seen running along Jayalalithaa's mighty cavalcade in Chennai.
J. Jayalalithaa was released from the Bangalore Central Jail earlier today after the Supreme Court granted her interim bail on medical grounds in the disproportionate assets case. She was received by top AIADMK leaders, including Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam.
The former state chief minister spent 22 days in jail, during which her supporters had been vociferously demanding her release.
