Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Tuesday said that Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj would make a better prime ministerial candidate for the Bharatiya Janata Party than Narendra Modi as she was a moderate face of the party and did not have a hardcore rightwing ideology like Modi.

"There are one to three things I would like to say on this. Firstly, she is not from the hardcore rightwing ideology. She started her career with the Jaipraksh movement. She was more acceptable in the BJP and among the other BJP allies because she has an image of a moderate BJP leader," said Singh.

"Secondly, she is the leader of opposition. Although, I have a difference of opinion on issues that she has raised, by and large she has conducted herself with dignity and number three is that she is the moderate face of BJP that is why she is acceptable to allies unlike Modi," he said.

"As far as her winning or losing from Vidihsa is concerned, she has done nothing there. She is from Haryana. What has she done in her own state? She said that she is grateful to the UPA government for bringing out the work of laying railway lines. But what did she do in this issue? Why is she boasting that she got the work done in five days? She has done nothing there and therefore she is not going to win in Vidisha," he added.

Singh on Monday had said that Sushma Swaraj was a better Prime Ministerial candidate than Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

"People who are not even supporters of the BJP would have accepted, like they did in case of Atal Behari Vajpayee, the personality of Sushma rather than the imposing persona of Narendra Modi," said Singh.
