Two suspected activists of the banned organisation Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) were arrested by the Hyderabad Police here on Friday.
"On the social networking site Facebook, we noticed certain activities which were contrary to the provisions of the law, so with the evidence available, we have taken both people into custody and sent them to judiciary remand," Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy told the media.
"Now we will be further investigating and based on evidence, we will book them," he added.
Reddy also said that as of now, the number of activists involved in unknown.
"At this point of time it is difficult to determine how many are involved. We will have to work further and understand what roles each person plays and how much evidence is available against them. The physical seizures, including the literature captured, and the evidence under the IT Act about their conversations, will help us in our enquiries," he said.
Reddy also said that so far, no links had been found between the arrested activists and the blasts in Burdwan in West Bengal earlier this month, in which two suspected militants were killed.
"We have not found any links with our case and the Budwan blasts in West Bengal. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is handling that case. If any links are found, we shall inform each other," he said.
