The Bharatiya Janata Party once again said on Friday that no stable government would be possible in Jammu and Kashmir without the party's participation, even as the suspense over government formation in the state continues.
"No stable government is possible in J-K without the participation of BJP," party spokesperson G V L Narsimha said a day after BJP leaders met Governor N N Vohra.
Two days ago, People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti, the leader of the largest party, had also met the Governor.
After the meeting, Mehbooba Mufti appeared to lean towards the BJP as she invoked former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's vision and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi "has a big responsibility" towards the state.
In the five-phased recent state assembly polls, the PDP won 28 seats in the 87-member Jammu and Kashmir assembly; the BJP won 25, while the National Conference and the Congress won 15 and 12 seats respectively. The majority mark was 44, which none of the four political parties achieved.
So far, no party or combination of parties, has staked claim to form government.
