SYSKA Group in partnership with Biometronic and Suyin Optronics will set up India's first camera module factory.

With a factory in Noida, the total investment made by the companies will be around USD 30 million, which will be utilized in three phases.

Suyin Optronics will manufacture camera modules for mobile phones, automotive industry (Rear view camera), medical, security industry (CCTV) and defense industry (Drones).

The factory will have a clean room for an installed production capacity of 5 million pieces per month and an expansion plan to set up the first COB (chip-on-board) plant for image sensors with an installed capacity of 10 million pieces per month. A Center of Excellence (COE) will also be set-up to enable indigenous design and development capability which will constitute a collaborative effort with the industry to develop solutions for optical, mechanical and sensor packaging throughputs.

With the aim to support Indian government's initiative of Make in India, this is for the first time that a camera module factory is being set up in India by a global player. Interestingly, the government has recently given a nod to legalize drones in India and this gives Suyin Optronics an added advantage to manufacture drone cameras in India.

"We are excited to announce our strategic partnership with Suyin Optronics and Biometronic to become the pioneers of camera modules in India. With the use of latest technology, innovation and state of the art facility, we will process the manufacturing of camera modules in a phased manner," said director, Syska Group, Rajesh Uttamchandani.

"We are pleased to announce our manufacturing facility with our strategic partners. India's economic growth of 7.4%, its domestic consumer electronic demands and the governments encouragement of foreign companies to localize production has provided to us an opportune moment to establish a sound manufacturing base that will be self-sufficient through technology development and research," said chairman of Suyin Optronics, Corp. (Taiwan), Gary Lee.

"It gives us an immense pleasure to introduce this highly sophisticated manufacturing facility which will include image sensor packaging and finished camera modules," said Prabhu Sridharan, Promoter and managing director of Biometronic Pte. Ltd. (Singapore).
