Criticising rebel leaders of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), party supremo Mayawati on Saturday described Swami Prasad Maurya as a traitor.
"The few people who have left BSP are selfish, Swami Prasad Maurya is a traitor," said Mayawati at a press conference after meeting leaders of her party.
"Even if a leader exits, the BSP comes with an ideology to stay with the Maurya community. No punishment would be given to the community even after Swami Prasad Maurya made a mistake," she added.
Swami Prasad Maurya, who is also leader of opposition in Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, left the BSP alleging corruption charges against Mayawati saying she sells the tickets of Vidhan Sabha, Loksabha and other positions to the highest bidder.
Maurya had on June 22 left the party, saying "Instead of selecting good candidates, who are loyal to the policies of the party, Mayawati is auctioning tickets to the highest bidder.
