England bowler Graeme Swann has staunchly defended England's 82-page specialised, 'tofu-rich' menu, which was devised by their nutrionist and sent to the various Ashes venues, from Australian ridicule.

After all the ridiculing of pumpkin seeds, goji berries and buckwheat pancakes with probiotic yoghurt, Swann, who along with fellow bowler James Anderson tucked into fish and chips at an event in Sydney organised by Yorkshire Tea, was surprised that the menu has raised questions as he believes that healthy eating is the 'way forward'.

According to The Guardian, the spinner said that although they have not seen the menu, he believes that it has sent on their behalf to the grounds, adding that the menu is a guideline for what England's nutritionists would like the players to be eating to recover from a day's play.

Swann further said that many players have to take the menu seriously as they tend to put on weight if they do not eat healthily.

However, the bowler defended his fish-and-chips diet, saying that eating such foods 'once in a blue moon' does not kill a person.
