More than a dozen male train drivers employed in the Roslagsbanan train services in Stockholm, Sweden, have started wearing skirts to work to keep cool following ban of shorts.
A driver working for the train company Arriva, which operates the Swedish railways system, Martin Aersten, said that temperatures in the train cab could hit 95F in summers, the Telegraph reported.
According to company's uniform rules, skirts or long trousers are more acceptable.
At a meeting in 2012, drivers were informed by Arriva that shorts were not allowed.
Thomas Hedenius, the communications head, told the local Mitti newspaper, that to say anything else would be discrimination.
Hedenius asserted that the regulations were made so that the staff looked more presentable and tidy.
