A Swedish professor has nominated NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Stefan Svallfors claims that Snowden deserves the prize for his 'heroic effort at great personal cost' as he has shown that 'individuals can stand up for fundamental rights and freedom', Washington Times reports.
According to the report, Svallfors said that awarding Snowden would help save the Nobel Peace Prize from the disrepute incurred by the hasty and ill conceived decision to award the US President Barack Obama in 2009.
