The swelling of the River Teesta has further worsened the flood situation in northwest Bangladesh.
According to the Bangladesh Water Development Board, the river is now flowing 34 centimeters above the danger level at the Teesta Barrage point in Dowani area of Hatibandha sub-division.
The Daily Star reported that the water levels of the River Dharla and eight other small rivers' have also risen since this morning, inundating new areas.
For the past two weeks, a continuous downpour and on rush of water from upstream has caused water logging of low-lying areas of 80 villages in five sub-districts of Lalmonirhat.
