Vehicular movement along the Imphal - Moreh Section of National Highway 102 came to a grinding halt from Pallel area due to the indefinite shutdown imposed by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the murder of TS. Thongkhogin Haokip, an assistant teacher of Molnom Junior High School.
A large number of supporters, including women folks blocked the Imphal - Moreh road at H. Kotlenphai near Pallel, Senam and Chahmol Village today.
They prohibited plying of vehicles, including two wheelers, four wheelers and trucks, buses etc. Vehicles belonging to Assam Rifles personnel were also not allowed to pass along the route during the shutdown.
The Joint Action Committee formed in connection with the alleged killing of Thongkhogin alias Ts Agin Haokip has reacted against the caretaker Khurmi Region of the NSCN (IM)'s clarification regarding the outfit's involvement in the incident leading to the death of the teacher.
JAC member Minlal Touthang said that the indefinite shutdown was imposed in protest against the failure of the state government to nab and book the culprits involved in the teacher's killing.
He further said that the JAC will intensify the agitations and impose a state-wide agitation with support from the general public and like-minded CSOs of the state if the government fail to nab and book the culprits at the earliest.
