Aurelius Corporate Solutions, a global provider of knowledge solutions, participated in "Learning and Development Leadership Summit India 2016", a two-day forum in Bangalore, which brought together leading learning and development (L and D) professionals from a multitude of industries.

Organised by Inventicon, the summit gathered leaders to deliberate on - enhancing existing techniques and methodologies, and looking at new technologies, to support Land D functions and roles.

Emphasising on the role technology in the recent past and today's world, Sumit Peer, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Aurelius Corporate Solutions Pvt. Ltd, said, "The technology has changed by leaps and bounds in the last 15 years and the future generations will continue to see technological advancements at a much faster pace. To compound it all, one can't afford to ignore technology in any industry or business aspect, be it construction, IT, mobiles, manufacturing, engineering, oil & gas, energy, retail, digital or supply chain."

Peer narrated the case study of emergence and disappearance of Nokia and Cable Broadband, and the current Apple TV, at the summit, to highlight the importance of convergence of technologies and training needs for an organisation to lead the industry. With products like Apple TV or even a smart phone today, which showcase the convergence of technologies, just simple programmes or technology trainings cannot justify with the changing times. The need is to have an amalgamated solution, which fits exactly into the requirement of the clients and businesses.

"Today Cloud has become a major threat to the hardware industry and now with automation this will soon again be taken over by Robotics. So agility to adaptation is the key to survival in today's world. Businesses need to become more agile and processed faster to be able to live upto the challenges in front of the L&D today. L&D is an important function and a critical need of any business to maintain the requisite skill of humans capital the organization has. Currently, the three most crucial challenges that L&D domain faces are, transition of manpower, multi trained manpower and future trained manpower", said Peer. According to Peer, the need of technology have long moved away from the vanilla to customized/tailored to an integrated solution today which are more consultative in nature.

The L and D summit was attended by a galaxy of luminaries from the L&D domain, representing different industries, including Mr. Madana Kumar (Senior Director and Global Head - Learning and Development, UST Global), Dr. Philip Mathew (Director L&D Deloitte), Mr. Stephen Van Hooydonk (Chief Learning Officer, Flipkart), Mr. Anup Bakshi (Director HR Global, Schneider Electric) and Ms.Geeta Ghaneckar (Chief Human Resource Officer Lifestyle Business, Raymonds).

Besides, the deliberations at the two-day event included topics like business-centric learning and organisational strategy, evolving role of the chief learning officer, exploring the investment potential of the learning and development function, managing and engaging a multigenerational workforce, bridging the skill gap, role and impact of technology in the learning and development domain, and future of the L&D function in the Indian corporate.
