Indian teenage woman golfer Aditi Ashok capped off her impressive maiden appearance at the Rio Olympics with a five-over 76 in the fourth and final round in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro on Saturday.
The 18-year-old from Bengaluru finished 41st with a cumulative score of seven-over 291 after 72 holes at Olympic Golf Course.
Inbee Park of South Korea bagged the first gold medal in women's golf in 116 years while New Zealand's Lydia Ko and Shanshan Feng of China claimed silver and bronze respectively.
Aditi, who produced an encouraging performance to lie tied eight after first two days of competition, crashed out of medal contention following a poor third round on Friday. She had struggled throughout the windy day, carding an eight-over 79 in the penultimate round.
The Indian golf sensation will now head for the first stage of qualifying to the LPGA Tour at Mission Hills Country Club in California, USA, starting from August 22.
