Canadian teenager Eugenie Bouchard has advanced to her maiden Grand Slam semi-final by eliminating Serbian Ana Ivanovic in their quarter-final clash on Tuesday at the Rod Laver Arena.

The 19-year-old Bouchard defeated Ivanovic, who eliminated top seed Serena Williams in the fourth round on Sunday, 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 to close out the biggest win of her career, which was her second win in as many meetings with Ivanovic after defeating her in straight sets in the second round at Wimbledon last year.

The official website of the Australian Open states that Ivanovic failed in her quest for a first Grand Slam semi-final appearance since the French Open of 2008, her sole major title to date.

Bouchard will now play China's Li Na on Thursday for a place in the women's singles final with the victory, which came in her first major quarterfinal appearance.
