The first creche for the children of women police officers was inaugurated at Saroornagar, Mahila police station, Hyderabad.
"In order to have a work-life balance to the women police officers on duty, for the first time, we have started creche at Saroornagar women police station," Mahesh M Bhagwat, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda told ANI.
Facilities like playing equipment and a caretaker for the children will be available at the creche. Apart from that, woman cops will be allowed to visit their kids four times a day while performing their duties.
This initiative has been brought up to ease up the working condition of women police officials as it will help them take care of their children while they are on duty.
Besides one woman home guard, one woman constable along with outsourcing staff will take care of the creche. Though this has been opened as an experiment, extension of the same service to other zones and subdivisions will be done after analysing the result.
"This creche is part of welfare measure and we are getting good feedback, right now we are having three to four babies. All safety and security is ensured," Rachakonda Police Commissioner said.
