Telangana seeks Centre's help to contain swine flu

Telangana Chief Minister Chandrashekara Rao spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday to seek the Centre's help in preventing the spread of swine flu in his state, where 13 people have lost their lives due to the ailment so far.

Rao reportedly asked for special medical teams and necessary assistance in the form of aid.

The Telangana Chief Minister also called for an emergency cabinet meeting in Hyderabad later in the day to discuss the measures to be taken to tackle the problem. He further asked all medical professionals to be alert vis-a-vis the spread of the deadly disease.

With 48 new cases being tested positive, the total H1N1 cases tested positive during January has risen to 221, making it urgent for the government to tackle the situation.
