Ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), which swept Assembly elections in December last year, appears to have lost considerable ground to the BJP and the Congress, which seem to be making gains in the Lok Sabha polls.
The TRS was leading on 8 of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's daughter and sitting MP K Kavitha trailing in Nizamabad constituency to BJP's Arvind Dharmapuri by over 37,000 votes in Nizamabad.
G Kisan Reddy, BJP's state unit president, was leading in Secundrabad parliamentary constituency by a margin of over 36,000 votes. The party was also leading in Karimnagar, Adilabad, and Nizamabad parliamentary constituencies by a margin of 20,000 votes.
Congress state president Uttam Kumar Reddy Nalamada was leading in Nalgonda seat while his party is leading on three other seats as well.
Sitting Hyderabad MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi was leading with 1.5 lakh votes.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the TRS had won 11 of a total of 17 Lok Sabha seats, INC 2, and the BJP, Telugu Desam Party, YSR Congress Party and AIMIM winning one seat each.
