Joan Lorring, who was nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actress for her role in 1945's 'The Corn Is Green', has passed away at the age of 88.
According to Deadline.com, the actress died in the New York City suburb of Sleepy Hollow.
Lorring's showbiz career began in radio, and her first American film was the 1944 MGM romantic war drama 'Song of Russia', while she later signed with Warner Bros. for the role of the scheming, trampish Bessie Watty, playing opposite Bette Davis, in 'The Corn Is Green'.
