In the wake of the brutal gangrape of a mother and her daughter in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr, Congress leader Sheila Dikshit on Monday called on Chief Minister Akhilesh to take action in a manner that instils fear in criminals, or else face the possibility of a mass exodus in the state.

Speaking to ANI here, the former Delhi chief minister emphasised that lawlessness has has increased to such an extent that nobody is safe in UP anymore.

"Criminals in UP are so bolstered these days because they can get away with practically anything. Akhilesh Yadav's government must take action in a manner that instils fear in criminals and also in cops who fail to take action," she said.

Branding UP as the most 'unsafe' state in the country, Dikshit added that given the number of people that are living in the state and the varied religions and castes, if the UP Government does not take concrete steps, then there will be a mass exodus in the state.

Meanwhile, at least three people were arrested earlier today in connection with the case.

"Rakesh, Savesh and Jawar Singh have been arrested in Bulandshahr gang rape and loot case," Meerut DIG Lakshmi Singh told ANI.
