The lawyer representing the family of the Manipuri man (Saloni) who was murdered, Varnika Singh, said Monday that those involved in the killing would be charged under Section 302 for murder and 153A for racial and religious attack.
Varnika Singh of the from the Human Rights Law Network (HRLN) said, "The accused will be charged with section 302 for murder, 153A for racial and religious attack along with SC/ST because the victim belonged to a tribal community."
Explaining about the incident in detail she said, "I am told about the presence of five or six people in a white Hyundai Verna car. And the victim was travelling in an auto with two of his friends. As soon as the auto stopped they started beating them. Victim's friends managed to escape while he was beaten to death,"
"They called a PCR van which arrived after two to three hours. After reaching the spot they found Saloni was lying unconscious and was later taken to AIIMS hospital," she added.
Varnika also told the name of other two friends of the victim, "One of the friends of Saloni belongs to Bihar named Narendra Sharma and the third one named Kazi Moki."
"I have not seen the CCTV footage yet but is with us," she added.
