Asserting that a simple action against insurgency has led to a change in mindset of the security scenario of the country, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday stated that those who fear India's new posture have started reacting.
"A simple action against insurgents has changed the mindset of the full security scenario in the country. So much so that those who fear India's new posture have started reacting," said Parrikar.
"Therefore, it is what mindset requires change, which can actually result into ultimate success in any field," he added.
The Indian Army had on Tuesday engaged two separate groups of militants along the Indo-Myanmar border, inflicting significant casualties on them.
A statement from the Ministry of Defence said that the operations were necessary in light of intelligence reports, which warned of militants planning attacks on Indian soil. The statement further appreciated the cooperation shared between the armies of India and Myanmar, assuring that any security threat to the nation will be met with a 'firm response'.
Myanmar, however, had denied reports that the Indian army had attacked militants in its territory, adding that the military operations were carried out on the Indian side of the border.
Meanwhile, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Dr. Jitendra Singh is scheduled to visit Manipur today to take stock of the situation there.
