'Leaders are born not made', famous author Shiv Khera has dubbed 'character', 'competence' and 'clarity' as three primary virtues for honing one's leadership skills.

"The qualities of a good leader include three things that are character, competence and clarity. If a good leader is not able to influence thinking that results in action then he is not a good leader," the renowned author said.

Leadership can be defined as an art of leading people to achieve the desired goals and targets, which wouldn't have happened otherwise. Becoming an effective and a good leader is not a one-time thing as it takes time to learn and practice leadership skills.

Khera says there is a difference between a 'good' leader and an 'effective' leader.

"A good leader must be effective yet have the foundation of morality and should be able to see the invisible and should have a good vision," he said.

A leader is an individual, who has the ability to influence thinking of the people that results in action. A team entirely depends upon their leader for every single decision. Therefore, a good and effective leader should have a clear vision for his goals.
