The three-day-long Namchi celebration 2016 was recently organised by the Namchi Mahotsav Celebration Committee under the guidance of South Sikkim Tourism Development Society (SSTDS) at Namchi Central Park.
The ongoing Namchi Mahotsav started on October 21 and is themed mainly on promoting the food, culture and tourism potential of the state.
"We have started this in 2004, and since then, we are celebrating this every year. The festival displays the tradition of Namchi," a organiser of the Mahotsav told ANI.
The celebration organised by the Namchi Mahotsav Celebration Committee had the presence of chairman, heads of departments, members of Namchi Municipal Council and the organising committee, officials and the general public.
This Mahotsav is held to promote and preserve Sikkim's rich and distinct culture, and the traditions of various communities.
