Police in Jharkhand's Khunti district arrested three Maoists, including a chief leader charged with murdering police officials.
Acting on a tip-off, police launched a combing operation along with a battalion of paramilitary force and raided an area in Khunti district where they held three Maoists who were active in Ranchi and its adjoining areas.
"Early this morning, the team conducted a raid in different areas, in the series of which these three Maoists have been held. They are - Sohari Munda, Munsu Munda and Biru Munda-and we have also recovered a rifle, cartridges and other items used by Maoists like their pamphlets, receipts and clothes," said Superintendent of Police, Anish Gupta.
He said it was a major achievement for Jharkhand police.
Sohari Munda is known for his notoriety having 21 charges and a bounty of rupees two lakh on his head. He was involved in murders of two Special Police Officers (SPO) in the state.
