Former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin has revealed that through the movie 'Azhar,' he wanted to clarify the whole incident that happened in his life and hence, denies to claim it as a biopic.

"I wanted to clarify the incident that has happened in my life. The press might call it a biopic but I would say it is not. It is on the incident that occurred during my playing days at that point of time," said the 53-year-old cricketer during the trailer launch of the movie in Mumbai yesterday.

"I had gone through a lot. It took me 12 years to get through the case and when that is done, then I thought of telling to all," he added.

On November 27, 2000, Azharuddin was found guilty of match-fixing, while Ajay Jadeja, Manoj Prabhakar and Ajay Sharma were found guilty of having links with bookies. On December 5, 2000, Azharuddin and Ajay Sharma were banned from cricket for life.

Later, after 12-long-years of struggle, he came out clean. When asked about whom he wants to blame for the incident, he preferred keeping mum.

"It's been a long time and I don't blame anyone now. But coming out from that was very relieving," said Azhar.
