The prison inmates in New Delhi's Tihar jail practiced yoga today on the occasion of the International Yoga Day.

This initiative at Tihar was organised by the prison authorities in collaboration with the Panchawati Yogashram, an institute which provides training in yoga.

Panchawati Yogashram's Swami Ashutosh, who gave lessons to the inmates, said that the inmates after being trained in yoga would be awarded certificates as yoga instructors and later employed by the institute itself once they complete their prison term.

"We would train them (inmates) to be instructors and when they are out of the prison we will give them employment. Usually, the people are hesitant to employ people who leave the prison, but Panchawati

Yogashram is ready for it. Those who are appointed as instructors would go to prisons in different parts of the nation and would continue this process," he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in celebrating the International Yoga Day by practicing yoga at Rajpath in the national capital.
