Trinamool Congress Members of Parliament on Wednesday staged a protest outside Parliament by tying black cloths around their mouths, while accusing the Central Government of using the CBI to subjugate state governments and for not giving the opposition an opportunity to speak.
"We had protested earlier as well. The opposition is not being letting to raise questions in the Parliament. Yesterday, when we have raised issues they had switched of the mics. This is against democratic norms. This is not the way to run a government," said TMC leader Saugata Roy.
Earlier on Tuesday, the party had protested along the same lines. They had also opposed the cuts in funds allotted to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).
TMC MPs had on Monday, draped themselves in black shawls and staged a protest outside Parliament against the arrest of West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra over his alleged involvement in the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam.
Some of the MPs had also displayed photographs of Sahara group chief Subrata Roy shaking hands with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which the MPs could be seen holding today as well.
