As the fight for the post of the President is underway, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday said that this election is taking place in the most dignified way, adding that it shows the democracy is matured and responsible.
Speaking to ANI, Pradhan said, "The Ministers are voting in the Sansad Bhavan with excitement and honour. This is the only election that has taken place in the most dignified way which shows that the democracy is matured and responsible. We are proud that a person coming from the deprived section will step ahead as President."
Hailing National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Ram Nath Kovind on his contribution towards the deprived section, Pradhan further stated that he will uplift them and work towards their benefits.
"Ram Nath Kovind will surely uplift the deprived section. He is the right choice and will work towards the development of the country," Pradhan said.
The voting for the Presidential polls is underway and will last till 5:00 p.m. The counting of the votes will take place on July 20.
There are two candidates in the fray for the coveted post - National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Ram Nath Kovind and Opposition's candidate Meira Kumar.
President Pranab Mukherjee's term is expiring on July 25.
