Pakistani Security officials said on Thursday that they had arrested a senior most militant near Afghan border who was earlier confused with the man who had tried to kill former President Parvez Musharraf.
The officials said that the military had tried to arrest Adnan Rashid, who had been accused of killing General Musharraf in 2003 and had escaped from jail.
Officials have called it one of the major arrests since the launch of the operation in Pakistan's North Waziristan.
The government and army had not immediately confirmed the arrest, reports the Dawn.
According to reports, it was only later that many security officials had said that it was not Rashid but an Al Qaeda bomb-maker and trainer.
Many Pakistani Taliban leaders also claimed that Rashid had not been arrested.
