Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shahnawaz Hussain on Tuesday alleged that a top official of the Uttar Pradesh Government is trying to influence the ongoing parliamentary polls in the state by 'threatening' officers on the election duty.
Urging the Election Commission to take cognisance of it, Hussain said the party is willing to disclose the name of the official.
"An official in the CM's (Chief Minister's) house calls up other officers repeatedly, saying 'we are in government for three more years and you have to work with us'. The Election Commission should take cognisance of it. We are willing to disclose the name of the officials," Hussain said.
Hussain added that Narendra Modi's stock is rising, as many of his political adversaries are now using foul language against him.
"We can't expect leaders such as Mulayam Singh, Lalu Yadav, Nitish Kumar and Sonia Gandhi to bless Narendra Modi. But now, their foul language has become a blessing for us. More the abuse, greater the stock of Narendra Modi rises," he added.
