Topic Studios, known for its Oscar-winning film 'Spotlight', will be financing and producing the comedic drama, The Climb.
The film, starring Kyle Marvin and Michael Covino, is an adaptation of a short film of the same title, confirmed The Hollywood Reporter.
The Climb will be an expansion of the story and characters depicted in the short film that premiered in the narrative competition at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.
"We loved The Climb when we saw the short at Sundance and knew Mike and Kyle had a lot more to say about their relationship with a truly unique voice. We think audiences are going to love their oversharing, poignant, funny take on friendship and the distinct way they have of telling it," The Hollywood Reporter quoted Adam Pincus, executive vp programming and content for Topic Studios/First Look Media, as saying.
The flick is a portrayal of friendship between two lifelong friends, played by Covino and Marvin, and includes multiple chapters on marriages, heartbreaks and conflicts.
The shooting of the film is slated to begin in August this year.
