The Toronto international film festival is organizing a sister march to flag the issue of "systemic inequality" against women in the film industry as a part of its 43rd edition.

According to THR, the march titled 'share her journey' will take place on September 8. The 10-day long festival will start on September 6.

Earlier, several issues, which are being faced by women in the film industry such as sexual assault, gender disparity were raised through movements like #MeToo movement, Time's Up movement and many others.

Maxine Bailey, VP advancement at TIFF said, "In the past year, the #MeToo movement, Time's Up and several high-profile criminal prosecutions have exposed a harsh reality about the film industry."

"It's a reality that women have known about for generations, but it's finally getting the attention it deserves. To put it bluntly, there is a dark side to the film industry - a culture where sexual assault, gender disparity, and sexism run rampant. It's a culture we cannot and will not accept," she added.
